Reviews:

starsFellows SB87CS
This shredder appears to operate very well. It is used in a home office and the large capacity basket accomodates a lot of shredded paper.
Shredding documents as well as cd/dvd's is no problem.
We noticed that when you open the door to the basket some shredded paper falls on the floor but overall would highly recommend this product. Well worth the money! Amazon had the lowest price on this product.

starsDISAPPOINTED
My husband is the single user. The day three of its arrival it inserted controls with the label of the cheque book. That blocked and did not function the service of assistance of properly. The suggested by using the oil of disintegrator.

starsExcellent power for the price!
Before this product I had a smaller shredder that would choke on two pieces of paper at the same time...even though it said it could handle up to 5. No worry with this shredder! It is much bigger and is very powerful. I don't have to think about how many sheets of paper I have or even worry about opening my junk mail. Just drop it in and watch it shred with ease. It is relatively quiet...it has a nice powerful low hum as the paper shreds. The child safety feature is very nice and works wonderfully when you get your fingers too close. I definitely recommend this product! Before I bought it I read reviews for every product on here and was wondering if I needed something even bigger than this one. But there is no need to spend anymore. This shredder will handle most anything you throw at it.

starsIt's Great
We had to replace an inexpensive, slow working, always overheating shredder. After boning up on many different models, we decided on this Fellowes Shredder. It is everything it is advertised to be and we couldn't be more please. Well worth the money!

starsHappy with my SB-87Cs
My order of the Amazon was embarked the next day of businesses and was provided two days then that. It was a replacement for a light machine of noiser of having. Other reviews call into question the complaint of cut of confettis. This term could mean range of cut sizes. This cut of disintegrator is 5/32 X 1 1/5 as announced or smaller. A smaller cut of 5/64 X of 5/16 is available in a different model for $100 more or more. What are you been willing to pay? For: It is much quieter than my old disintegrator. If you feed it less than the maximum of 15 sheets, the basket will fill before it overheats. There is a switch on the right side to stop the sensitive device of safety of contact if it is a problem with you. In CD/DVD' S of shredding, the pieces are very small but it is an operation of noiser which shredding paper. Take guard: By shredding CD/DVD' S, of small pieces can be ejected out of the top of the machine during the process. Against: If their paper is re-used, you must empty your paper of reject before shredding charts of credit rating and CD/DVD' S. It would be handy if there were a receptacle different for paper and the credit rating card/CD/DVD' S. Not all the shredds are captured by the waste basket included on the basis of a disorder empting the basket. Like remarkable in other reviews, maintain a vacuum cleaner handy. In a general way, I am happy with the quality and the price of this disintegrator.

I like it much. It is much quieter than my old man shreader. It has to frequently block still like my old. I recomment this product with any.

starsWow this thing shreds!!!
Handled a large stack of papers (about 500 sheets) without overheating. I was impressed at how easily it handled things and put my prior inferior model to shame!

starsExcellent
Shred the hell out of all, as announced, and does not overheat in 3 minutes like my last smaller disintegrator. Very happy with this. Aucunes felt sorry for. Would still buy.

starsWorks great
Plenty of power, takes quite a few sheets at once. Way better than my previous (smaller) shredder.

starsThis reasonably quiet POWERHOUSE gets the job done!
I purchased this machine to use in my small home office, and I am VERY pleased.

PROS:

Works hard! Chews up tons of paper, discs and junk mail quickly and completely.

Hasn't jammed at all for me, not even once! (It sometimes stops and reverses itself automatically when it senses trouble, then immediately resumes shredding... but this is a great feature if you ask me because it keeps it from jamming, and it's better than having it just stop like some other shredders, which would force you to then manually run it in reverse to try to get it going again.)

It's surprisingly not loud... don't get me wrong, it's not exactly quiet, you definitely hear it grinding while it's shredding, but for something so powerful I would have expected it to be louder.

Looks nice, rolls easily on the casters, and is easy to empty.

Safety features are EXCELLENT.

CONS:

It smells strongly like plastic or rubber right out of the box, but this odor dissipates after a few days or so.

I wish the slot at the top was a wee bit wider... junk mail just seems to be getting wider and wider these days, and most mail is just a tad too wide to go in lengthwise.

All in all, a great machine, and at a great price from Amazon.com!

starsSome issues with this shredder
I bought this disintegrator to handle the monticules of the writings which I had saved after my death of parents. It is my experiment with this disintegrator: 1. It overheats if you shred a good number of paper with one resting and you must await it to cool. Formerly half an hour of surplus. 2. The automatic paper probe becomes "dirty" and keeps the operation of engine. It will not cease functioning unless you shut off the current. This too often occurs. Since you must oil the cutters, I believe that oil gathers the adhesive on the probe. I guess that it is optical. I continue must clean it with an end of Q. 3. It makes a great disorder bus little paper fall out of the box when you empty the basket. Keep a brush or clean with the handy vacuum cleaner when you open the door and remove the basket. 4. The charts of credit rating and CDs jagged enter the basket. Since we re-use paper in my city, I must empty the basket of paper initially and then to empty CDs shredded in the refuse because they cannot be re-used. In a general way it is a powerful disintegrator which does the work. As a long time as you should not shred a good number of paper. I did not expect that the disintegrator has a problem of overheating. The older model of disintegrator with the disintegrator which rests on the basket is well better a design which does not make a disorder and is much cheaper.

starsSo far, so good...............
I had to replace an Aurora paper shredder due to a lack of support and parts availability.

So far the thing works like a charm

starsFellowes Powershred SB-87Cs 15 sheet Confetti Cut Shredder
Stripped I had the disintegrator for very long (less than one month) nor me A had much occasion to employ it. I bought this disintegrator for the use at the house, although it is evaluated for the small office. I have a complaint. The receptacle of reject is small and fills quickly. I will have to say that it carries out work to shred nicely!!!:o rather)

starsNothing this won't eat
We got this as replacement for a K-Mart special that broke down from overuse. Great deal from Amazon compared to the local stores, and there is NOTHING this won't shred. We use it on paper, credit cards, cds, etc., and the auto-shutoff when your fingers get near the slot means even the kids can use it safely. I also like the storage bins in the door for bags, supplies and manual. Very nice product.

starsGood shredder for CD's, etc
Seems to me that all shredders below $1k (that is, shredders marketed for home use) are noisy and messy and tend to overheat if used for long periods. This one is better than the two others I have owned. Still, running it near its maximum shredding capacity for more than a few minutes will cause it to overheat whereupon it takes a seat on the bench for 20 or so minutes, then comes back to the fray ready to do battle again. And it's still impossible to empty the bin without making a mess on the floor, so it lives in the garage where it's easy to sweep up. This particular model does a much better job shredding CD's than any other shredder I've owned and the safety shut off if little (or big) fingers get too close is important to me. Amazon is certainly the place to buy one of these.... very good price and prompt delivery.

starsFellowes 87Cs Shreader
Nice shreader. It powers through paper very well. The main thing I dislike is the basket that has to be pulled out when full. Shreaded paper gets all over the place. There was a nice design they had years ago on another Fellowes shreader I owned. The shreader head actually set on top of the waste basket that came with it. Very nice. Over all, aside from the messy issue, it is a great shreader.

starsExcellent Product
This is an excellent shredder - we are very pleased with the results and performance of machine.

starsPerforms well
This shredder is an upgrade for me from a 6 sheet capacity shredder. It easily shreds unopenned credit card offerings and the advertised number of sheets. The safety system works well to stop the shredder when fingers are too near. It does take up significant space, so you need a dedicated location for it.

starsWhat were they thinking, revisited
Previous reviewers have questioned how many sheets the product handles. My unit consistly handles 12 - 15 sheets, as advertised. I have gone beyond that limit and clogged the feeder. The reverse direction feed works well and has always corrected the problem.

The cutters do not clog with paper.

All safety switches on my unit work as intended.

All considered, this is a very good home office, moderate-to-heavy use machine. My one complaint is that, as other reviewers have observed, some shreddings spill over the collection basket. On emptying, they get on the floor and need to be vacuumed up.

starsAlmost perfect
This shredder does an excellent job of making confetti out of documents, as well as credit cards and CD/DVDs. The only issue is the spred of the confetti within the cabinet. The shredding heads are not on the middle of the basket, but rather toward the front. Some (small portion)of the confetti spreads over the basket edge, and into the interior compartment. It's a small aggravation on an otherwise excellent unit. keep a small hand-vac handy. It has run hard, and has never tripped the thermal breaker -- definitely NOT light duty.

Knowing what I know, I'd buy it again.

starsFellowes Powershred SB-87C Shredder
I think that it is a good product. It has enough convenient to withdraw the drawer in which you can load a bag of refuse to shred paper. It seems to handle 8-9 at the same time pieces of paper, which is better than any preceding disintegrator than I had. Slightly volume to be moved around my would be only felt sorry for.

starsGreat Shredder!
I just go this shredder and it works like a champ. Shredding many more than 15 sheets with ease.

starsWhat were they thinking?
It would be hard to imagine a more poorly designed machine than the Fellowes SB-87Cs Paper Shredder. With all the available technology they had to come up with something like this. This is what I don't like about it:

1. It does not handle 15 sheets simultaneously. It often chokes on more than 4 and likes to shut down altogether on more than 10.
2. The basket is far too small and must be emptied every few minutes.
3. Pieces of shredded paper get all over the floor and the cabinet.
4. The shredded pieces are too large. They may be unreadable, but the basket would handle much more if the pieces were smaller or crosscut as they are in less-expensive machines. They are definitely nothing I would call confetti.
5. This machine is overpriced.
6. The cutting device clogs with paper, and it is difficult to remove it.
7. The safety switch prevents the machine from functioning when there is no safety issue.
8. Shredding any plastic or self-adhesive material can cause the machine to jam.

Does the Fellowes SB-87Cs do anything right?

It seems to do all right with CDs and credit cards.
